This is a lovely show I happened to listen to yesterday, doing it The Right Way (if you can!) and just listening through without cheating and checking the set list so it's fresh. This only works if you can't remember much about it, LOL. Which I didn't. So if you don't know the show: bookmark it, forget about it, and go back later and listen without looking :-)

Really, if you can come on this MLB jam in a way that it sort of surprises you, it's just a stunner ... OK, I'm sure it is normally, too, but I wasn't expecting it and it just sounded so ... fresh and amazing.

The DS is hyper-mellow-jazz bar (DS > MLB > DS); it goes into a Stella that's kinda average, IMO, but as I recall there really is a cool transition in that 2nd set, and I think it may be Stella into Eyes ... one of those times where it's like you can hear a pin drop as you wait for them to land on whatever is coming. Some edge-of-the-seat, where-are-they-going-THIS-second excitement there (for those of us who find excitement in strange places, LOL.) Will have to listen again to check if that's Stella > Eyes.

At any rate, they go on a heck of a roll ... from DS straight on till morning. Ideally I'd say that if you're not going to listen to the whole show, play the 2nd set from the start to get the impact:

MI Half-Step, Big River, DS > MLB > DS > Stella > Eyes > WRS > LIG, GDTRFB > JBG (yeah, you'll be in the mood for it after all that)

Autumn 1973

McGaw Hall Northwestern University 11/01/73 comes to mind....

As in tonight's full moon and magnificent Perseid meteor shower in one word;

beautiful!

10/25, 10/29 and 10/30 are all fantastic shows.

Give 'em each a listen.

Yep,

And this recording gets a nod towards the sonic hall of fame.
